Please join us at the Akron RoadRunner Marathon
STREET FAIR on Saturday, October 1st. GetFitAkron.com in
partnership with the Akron Marathon and the YMCA is extending an
invitation to everyone running, volunteering, or just supporting the
Marathon runners by your presence at the STREET FAIR. You’ll get to
see the runners as they complete their run.
ALL LAAA MEMBERS AND FAMILIES ARE INVITED FROM
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to come on down to Main Street - just
opposite the Canal Park Aeros Stadium and stop at the Leadership
Akron Tent.
BRING THE KIDS / ACTIVITIES / RAFFLE
On Saturday, October 1, 2005 Leadership Akron will
have a 10x10 tent on Main Street where the Marathon is hosting its
Street Fair. There will be entertainment on stage (Wanda Hunt in the
afternoon and another band in the morning), Time Warner with TV
coverage, a children’s area, the Michelob Ultra Area, the Akron
Young Professional area, food vendors and more! Lots of activities
for kids and families!
With the help of Rick Krochka from Triad, we have
a large version of the final AKRON BEACON JOURNAL ad that
will say: “Leadership Akron thanks the community for participating
in GetFitAkron.com!"
Take a chance (FREE!) on a drawing to win one of
five gift baskets that will be displayed. The gift baskets will
include fun and useful donations from the RoadRunner Marathon, YMCA,
and Get Fit Akron.
Please take a moment (one last request!) to sign
up to be a member of www.getfitakron.com. Sign up cards will also be
available at the tent. on October 1st.
ONLY GETFITAKRON.COM MEMBERS will be eligible to
win an “Air Tran Roundtrip Travel for Two” certificate from Akron -
Canton Airport with nonstop service to: Atlanta, Boston, Lt.
Lauderdale, New York City, Tampa and Orlando. The value is $1,500
and as a member YOU COULD BE THE WINNER.
The YMCA will be taking over the website after
this event and maintaining the same name. We are proud of this great
community resource that has been created by Leadership Akron Alumni
Association and its partners and sponsors.
If you would like to help by volunteering to work
in the LAAA tent for a one-hour or two-hour shift beginning at 9:00
a.m. please call us. Looking forward to seeing you on October 1st!

Runner Akron Marathon Business Challenge!

Showcase to the community that your business is
the fastest, most helpful, most charitable organization in town by
winning the 2005 Road Runner Akron Marathon Business Challenge!
As a member of Leadership Akron, we invite you
to participate in this great community event! We challenge the
alumni to have at least one team entered from each Alumni class.
Working hand-in-hand with the Get Fit Akron program, this is a great
way to enhance the efforts already established by Leadership Akron.
The Business Challenge offers businesses a way to
promote their involvement and receive several additional perks along
the way. Please see the enclosed information for more details on how
you can enter relay teams, volunteer teams or raise money for
charity.
There are many creative ways to recruit runners,
volunteers and raise money for charity. Our training program can
help anyone get ready to run a leg of the relay. Volunteer teams can
include employees’ entire families. They will get volunteer
training, an invitation to the volunteer appreciation party and a
free t-shirt! Employees sitting on volunteer boards can use this
event to raise money for their favorite non-profit organization.
Just some of the benefits your business may
receive include:
