The holidays,
hectic days, and fast-paced living can make finding and
choosing a variety of healthy foods every day difficult. You
can get frustrated about eating too much or going off your
“diet.”
If you think
weekly and plan your food choices over several days, you can
enjoy eating and get all the nutrients you need for a good
diet. If you are looking forward to your favorite roast this
weekend, then try to eat smaller amounts of meat the day or
two before. If you splurged at a party and indulged in too
many sweets, try and avoid them for a couple days. If your
pantry is short on veggies or fruit, make a point to get to
a market to replenish so you can eat well before or after
the meals you overindulge.
Plan weekly to
find a personal eating and activity balance that will let
you enjoy good food, get the nutrients you need, and achieve
a desirable weight. Remember that in that balance (or any
diet) there’s always room for 5 servings of fruits and
vegetables a day for better health.
