According to the
latest government statistics, women are consuming 335 more
calories a day than they did 20 years ago, and men an extra
170 calories a day. Almost all the extra calories come from
sugary snacks and soft drinks (UC Berkeley Wellness Letter,
2004).
At the same time,
these foods that contain lots of calories packed into
bite-size bits can also make it appear that we are eating
less volume than we use too.
TIP: Eat
more, improve your diet and cut calories by filling up on
high nutrient, lower calorie foods such as fruits,
vegetables, and whole grains. You can still have your
treats, but limit the amount that you eat. By eating more
fruits, veggies and whole grains, you’ll feel less hungry,
have more energy and consume less calories.
