Everyone
needs a game plan when it comes to healthy eating. One of
the most important parts of your game plan should be a
shopping list.Your shopping list
should include foods that are realistic for your lifestyle:
- If you know that you are always in a
hurry at breakfast time, pick foods that are easy to
take in the car or pick foods that are easy to prepare
in a couple of minutes.
- Lunch time may be your trouble time;
if you are away from home and you don’t have access to
healthy foods from your local restaurants or work
cafeteria, packing your lunch may be a new, healthy
habit to develop.
- Many folks are rushed at dinner time
because of various family activities. Consider making a
few healthy meals on the weekends and stick them in the
freezer for the following week. Also consider choosing
foods that are easy to prepare, such as skinless chicken
breast, pork medallion or lean beef patties.
Vegetables are easy to prepare if you have
them on hand. Blanching or boiling vegetables takes only a
couple of minutes and the vegetables come out colorful and
slightly crunchy. If vegetables seem to spoil quickly at
your house, maybe you should use frozen vegetables. Take out
the amount you need and close up the bag until next time.
Fruit is another food group that we should
all try to incorporate into our diets. Fresh fruit would be
the best choice, but canned fruit is better than eating no
fruit at all. Canned fruit is also easy to take with you. If
you forget to eat it today, you can work it into you meal
tomorrow.
So get into the game of healthy eating,
make a plan for winning meals!
